Role Overview
A respected and long-established Manchester law firm, known for its commitment to publicly funded criminal defence work, is seeking a Legal Aid Billing Clerk to join its busy team. This is a fully office-based position working Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm. The successful candidate will support the Practice Director by managing billing operations, legal aid submissions, and legal file administration.
Candidate Profile / Experience Needed
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in legal billing or similar legal finance role
- Familiarity with Legal Aid billing processes and LGFS
- Confident using billing systems and handling WIP/ledger accuracy
- Excellent attention to detail and data management skills
- Able to liaise effectively with fee earners and senior staff
- Strong organisational skills for file archiving, diary entries, and scheduling
- Willingness to assist with wider admin tasks including reception and client support
