Corporate Social Responsibility
Stop The Traffik
IPS Group has adopted Stop The Traffik
as one of its Corporate Social Responsibility Projects.
Stop the Traffik is a global coalition of various organisations who have
got together with the express purpose of using the 200th anniversary of the abolition
of the slave trade in the British Empire to remind the world that there is more
actual slavery going on in many different forms today than there was 200 years ago
when the African trade was made illegal.
You may be surprised to know that slavery actually goes on in the UK and other western
countries today as well as in other parts of the world. As an example, there are
well documented stories of teenagers, particularly girls, being bought from their
parents or carers, or being duped out of their identity papers, flown to the UK
and actually being auctioned in the arrivals halls of our major airports to criminal
gangs who brutalise them and use them in the sex industry.
